Jeano Edwards is a Jamaican-born photographer and filmmaker whose work thoughtfully explores themes of identity, belonging, and the layered concept of home. After relocating to the United States at sixteen, Edwards developed a practice shaped by distance and return – a perspective further informed by his Master’s studies at Goldsmiths, University of London. His photobook EverWonderful (2021), created over several years and return visits to Jamaica, offers a quiet, observational portrait of the island, capturing moments of everyday beauty through a lens that is both intimate and inquisitive. The project was shortlisted for the Paris Photo–Aperture Foundation PhotoBook Awards and reflects Edwards’ interest in subtle, place-based storytelling.
Working across photography and film, Edwards constructs visual narratives grounded in memory, landscape, and cultural nuance. His film In the Dark, the Tides Shine Bright continues this exploration, offering a meditative look at longing and return through nightscapes and sound. Alongside his personal projects, he has collaborated with a range of clients, including The New York Times, M Le Monde, Wales Bonner, and Apple, among others. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the National Portrait Gallery in London, and he currently lives and works between Paris and New York.
